The company's purpose is to conduct production and trade in electricity, and related activities, to operate within the municipality of Karlstad – and in the geographical vicinity of the municipality of Karlstad – the production and trade of district heating, to operate within the municipality of Karlstad the production and trade of district cooling, to carry out waste management within the municipality of Karlstad. The company is authorized to operate and develop public electronic communication networks and electronic communication services for the public, or activities and contracts related to the operation of electricity and electronic communication networks, as well as street lighting, within the municipality of Karlstad. The company may hold shares in companies engaged in electricity grid and municipal network operations within the municipality of Karlstad, and in companies engaged in municipal and regional cooperation regarding open fiber networks for electronic communication. The company may conduct charging infrastructure operations. The company may hold shares in companies that construct, own, and/or operate facilities for the electric charging of vehicles. The company is obligated to carry out the tasks assigned to it by its owner or the municipality of Karlstad. The activities carried out pursuant to such assignments shall be carried out for the benefit of the assignor/in the assignor's place and may, if appropriate, be carried out without geographical restrictions as described in the first paragraph, provided that the assignor had the opportunity to carry out the activities without such restrictions. The purpose of the company's activities is to, in accordance with good technical practice, with optimal resource utilization and under environmental consideration, promote a good energy supply and a long-term sustainable management of waste.
